        BRIDGE COURSE

The orientation programs for the fresh batches of all undergraduate and Post graduate  programmes at the commencement of the programme is an IQAC initiative began in  2015. It is given in the form of a bridge course which is conducted every year before the commencement of the first semester classes. The main objective of the course is to bridge the gap between subjects studied at Pre-university level and subjects they would be studying in Graduation. The syllabus for the course is framed in such a way that they get basic knowledge on the subjects which they would be learning through graduation or Post graduation. A Curriculum is framed separately in each of the disciplines, for Bridge Course. During  the first week of the classes, the bridge course curriculum is delivered to the students in  various disciplines. A post bridge course test is conducted after the completion of bridge  course syllabus to assess the ability of students. The one- week program conducted every  year consists of interactive sessions focused on the stuff and style of the respective

subjects with the following objectives.

  •  To create an atmosphere that minimizes anxiety, promotes positive attitudes and stimulates excitement for learning.
  •  To bridge the gap between +2 and degree programs.
  •  To introduce relevant skills and methods for learning in the graduate level.
  •  To assess learning levels of the new batch of students.
  •  To introduce effective learning techniques and to familiarize the various facilities in the college and about faculty members.

The program components involve commencement talk by an eminent resource person, interaction with the faculty members, conceptual discussions, and group learning activities, familiarization of standard learning resources, reading sessions, and web-assisted learning.

The Course focuses on UG regulations of the University, System of attendance,  Programme Specific Outcomes, Core, Complementary, Common, Open and Audit Courses, Reference Materials of all courses, Details of Experiential Learning like Industrial visit and Project, Seminars and assignments, Components of the Internal  Evaluation System, Structure of Question Paper of the External Examinations, Indirect  grading System and Pass criteria. The course enables the students to use the Offline and

Online Education resources available in the College Library and also transact them the  rules and regulations of the library as well. There is enough provision in the course to give an exposure to laboratories and lab manual for the science students. It throws light in to the infrastructure facilities available in the college campus like college computer Centre, e Content Development Centre,

Health Club, Canteen, Games room, Playground and Special amenities for girl students  such as Transportation facilities, Rest room. The course goes through various aspects of the graduation and Post-graduation programme so that the students can plan their course of learning well in advance.

Feedback collected from the students reveals that the programs were successful in  motivating the students. They could realize the need for a paradigm shift in their  approach towards learning.
