CODE OF CONDUCT FOR TEACHERS
1. An academic year consists of two Semesters.
2. Teachers must submit their diary at the end of each Semesters, to the Principal for verification. Also should keep the diary ready for frequent verification by HoDs and the Authorities.
3. Teachers may enter the current time table on given page.
4. Enter details of the classes engaged in the table provided on weekly basis.
5. Consolidate the data and record the same month wise in the space provided on each page.
6. Conduct the student evaluation of teachers twice a Semester and Consolidate the data on given page.
7. Consolidate the hours engaged for each class in the Final Report.
8. Examination duties attended on regular working days should be entered in the diary.
9. Duties attended during vacation should be entered on given page.
10. Class tutors shall keep the attendance register of the students.
11. Teachers should handle the subjects assigned by the Head of the Department
12. Teachers should complete the syllabus in time. Teachers shall produce good results in the subjects handled by them and are accountable for the same.
13. Tutor- Mentor system must be effectively implemented. Teachers shall monitor the respective group of students who are allotted to them.
14. Two CIA Tests are to be conducted in each semester. Answer books are to be valued and marks are to be informed to the students. Marks for the assignments, CIA Tests, Seminars if attended are to be entered in the handbook.
15. Teachers should be good counselors and facilitators. They should help, guide, encourage and assist the students to ensure that the Teaching-Learning Process is effective and successful. Value based education must be their motto.
16. Teachers should maintain decorum both inside and outside the classroom and set a good example to the students.
17. Teachers should carry out other academic, co-curricular and organizational activities that may be assigned to them from time to time.
18. Teachers should be punctual and vigilant while doing the examination work.
19. Teachers should consider yourself as part and parcel of the college and do share the responsibility of maintaining discipline in and around the campus.
20. Teachers are expected to be present in the college campus at least 10 minutes before the College first bell.
21. Teachers should be present in their respective classes immediately after each hour and breaks and remain in the class till the hour ends.
22. Teachers should sign the attendance register once they reach the college for duty.
23. Actual workload of a teacher is 40 hours per week even though their maximum class hours are only 16 per week.
24. 15 days of casual leave can be availed in a calendar year.
25. Prior written permission is required from the Principal/HoD at least a day in advance while availing CL or OD.
26. Not more than 20% of staff members in a Department will be allowed to take OD/CL in a day
27. Teachers should report for duty in the reopening day and the last working day of each semester and vacations.

1 The workload of the teachers in full employment should not be less than 40 hours a week for 30 working weeks (180 teaching days) in an academic year. It should be necessary for the teacher to be available for at least 5 hours daily in the University/College for which necessary space and infrastructure should be provided by the University/college. Direct teaching-learning process hours should be as follows.
Assistant Professor 16 hours
Associate Professor and Professor 14 hours.
I. TEACHERS SHOULD
(I) Adhere to a responsible pattern of conduct and demeanour expected by the community.
(ii) Manage their private affairs in a manner consistent with the dignity of the profession.
(iii) Seek to make professional growth continuous through study and research.
(iv) Express free and frank opinion by participation at professional meetings, seminars, conferences etc., towards the knowledge contribution.
(v) Maintain active membership of professional organizations and strive to improve education and profession through them.
(vi) Perform their duties in the form of teaching, tutorial, practical, seminar and research work conscientiously and with dedication.
(vii) Co-operate and assist in carrying out functions relating to the educational responsibilities of the college and university such as: assisting applications for admissions, advising and counseling students as well as assisting the conduct of university and college examinations including supervision, invigilation and evaluation; and
(viii) Participate in extension, co-curricular and extra-curricular activities including community service.
II. TEACHERS AND THE STUDENTS
(i) Respect the right and dignity of the student in expressing his/her opinion
(ii) Deal justly and impartially with students regardless of their religion, caste political, Economic, social and physical characteristics;
(iii) Recognize the difference in aptitude and capabilities among students and strive to meet their individual needs;
(iv) Encourage students to improve their attainments, develop their personalities and at the same time contribute to community welfare;
(v) Inculcate among students scientific outlook and respect for physical labour and ideals of democracy, patriotism and peace;
(vi) Be affectionate to the students and not behave in vindictive manner towards any of them for any reason
(vii) Pay attention to only the attainment of the student in assessment of merit;
(viii) Make themselves available to the students even beyond their class hours and help and guide students without any remuneration or reward.
(ix) Aid students to develop an understanding of our national heritage and national goals, and
(x) Refrain from inciting students against other students, colleagues or administration.
III. TEACHERS AND GUARDIANS
(I) Try to see through teachers bodies and organization, that institutions maintain contact with the guardians, their students, send reports of their performance to the guardians whenever necessary and meet the guardians in meetings convened for the purpose for mutual exchange of ideas and for the benefit of the institutions.
IV. TEACHER AND SOCIETY
(i) Recognize that education is a public service and strive to keep the public informed of the educational programmes which are being provided.
(ii) Work to improve education in the community and strengthen the community's moral and intellectual life.
(iii) Be aware of social problems and take part in such activities as would be conducive to the progress of society and hence the country as a whole.
(iv) Perform the duties of citizenship, participate in community activities and shoulder responsibilities of public offices.
(v) Refrain from taking part in or subscribing to or assisting in any way activities which tend to promote feeling of hatred or enmity among the different communities, religions or linguistic groups but actively work for national integration.
