NSS and NDRF Conduct Disaster Management Community Awareness Programme at Majlis College

Puramannur: The National Service Scheme (NSS) Units 97 & 172 of Majlis Arts & Science College (Autonomous), Puramannur, successfully organized a Disaster Management Community Awareness Programme in association with the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). The initiative aimed to enhance awareness among students on disaster preparedness, emergency response, and the importance of community resilience during natural and human-made disasters.

The programme was inaugurated by Dr. Mohammed Kutty K.K., Principal, who emphasized the significance of disaster awareness and preparedness as essential life skills for every citizen. He encouraged students to actively participate in community service initiatives and develop the confidence to respond effectively during emergencies.

The keynote address was delivered by Inspector Sujith C. M. of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF). He explained various aspects of disaster management, including risk assessment, preparedness strategies, evacuation procedures, first response measures, and the critical role of trained volunteers in disaster mitigation and relief operations.

The event also featured an extensive live demonstration by the NDRF team, including HC/GD Kabeer, HC/GD Rajesh U., CT/GD Pattan S., and CT/GD Durgesh. The demonstration showcased practical rescue techniques, emergency response procedures, and safety measures to be adopted during various disaster situations. Students gained valuable hands-on exposure to disaster response protocols and emergency preparedness practices.

The interactive sessions enabled participants to understand the importance of timely action, teamwork, leadership, and community participation in minimizing the impact of disasters. The programme strengthened students' awareness of disaster risk reduction while inspiring them to become responsible volunteers capable of supporting society during emergencies.
